Nigadoo River

Beach area and eroded bank

Eroded bank upstream

Waterfront property

Nig 51

Thursday, July 16, 2009

Issue:

Swimming hole and series of deep pools used by the public. Access trail to cottage from left bank and access trail to parking area from right bank. Lots of erosion on the banks upstream.

Action Required:

It is relatively simple to restore a buffer zone because all you need to do is let nature take its course. The first step consists of simply not cutting the strip beside the water. Before long, natural vegetation will reclaim its rights and benefit your property. Shortly after that, shrubs and trees will take root

Update:

There are still deep pools used by citizens for swimming. The banks erosion is even worst then before, a deviation of the water would help the bank from continuous degradation.
