Woody debris in the culvert
Duguay 03
Wednesday, September 2, 2009

Issue:
Big culvert (3 m) on a new construction road for a retirement home. Many erosion prevention measures were taken around the culvert and on the banks. The culvert is partially blocked with woody debris. Big fuel tanks are stored on the construction site. Upstream from the culvert, the brook runs between a schoolyard and a church. A small buffer zone of shrubs was left on each side of the brook.
Action Required:
The woody debris should be removed from the culvert. Make sure that the sediments from the construction site don’t reach the brook. The erosion prevention measures that were installed must be maintained in good working condition.
