Ruisseau Emeric 04
Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Issue:
Private woodlot with a maple harvest open to the public. Multiple camps on the waterfront. Wooden bridge over two plastic culverts on gravel road. Man-made pond with absolutely no vegetation on the banks.
Action Required:
Landowner education on the importance of maintaining an adequate buffer zone on his property and the effects of a man-made pond on water quality. Restore the buffer zone by planting shrubs or by letting nature take its course by leaving a strip of untouched vegetation along the stream.
Update
June 29 2017

Vegetation around the pond

New bridge
Update:
The vegetation has grown around the pond, it is thin in one place on the right bank. The bridge was destroyed and a new bridge built at a different place 100 meters from the old one.
