Man-made rock dam
Ormes 11
Wednesday, September 1, 2010

Issue:
Cluster of cottages on left bank. Big boulders on the bank at some places as rip-rap. Short cut grass up to the river. Man-made rock dam. Stream banks are moderately eroded. Most of the cottages are really close to the river. There is a shed located on an unstable bank at less than a meter from the river.
Action Required:
Landowner education on the importance of maintaining an adequate buffer zone on their property. The stream banks should be stabilized in order to slow down erosion and reduce sedimentation in the river. Restore the buffer zone by planting shrubs or by letting nature take its course by leaving a strip of untouched vegetation along the stream.
