Issue:
Cluster of cottages mostly on the left bank. Short cut grass up to the river bank. Infiling on the left bank close to the river. Access ramp to the river and dumping of gravel and dirt in the watercourse in order to create a dam. Stream banks are moderately eroded with some rip-rap rocks at certain spots.
Action Required:
Landowner education on the importance of maintaining an adequate buffer zone on their property. The stream banks should be stabilized in order to slow down erosion and reduce sedimentation in the river. Inform the owner of the negative effects of dumping dirt and gravel in the river. Restore the buffer zone by planting shrubs or by letting nature take its course by leaving a strip of untouched vegetation along the stream.
